This competition is held once a year during Nau Roz (March 21). It includes competitions in music, painting, writing, cinema, theatre, sculpture and miniatures. In 2003 over 1,000 artists took part from Kabul and the provinces. The first to fourth prize winners received cash prizes from 40,000 Afghani to 10,000 Afghani. Winners were interviewed for television and all participants received a certificate of merit. Regional competitions are planned for the future.
