Originally launched in 1951 under the name Ljubljanski Dnevnik ('Ljubljana Daily'), this newspaper was renamed Dnevnik in 1968 and Dnevnik: neodvisni časopis ('Dnevnik: Independent Newspaper') in 1991. Its average daily print run is around 62,000 issues. According to the National Research on Readership (http://www.nrb.info), in 2006 Dnevnik was read daily by 162,000 people, giving it a 9.5 per cent daily reach. The newspaper has correspondent offices in Celje, Kamnik, Koper, Kranj, Trbovlje, Novo Mesto and Jesenice. Dnevnik issues several supplementary editions - since 1962 Nedeljski dnevnik ('Sunday Dnevnik'), since 1994 Moj dom ('My Home') and Tolar na tolar ('Financial Supplement'), since 1996 Odmevnik ('Echo Paper' on hot issues), since 1999 Dnevnik & Svet Nepremičnin ('Dnevnik and Real Estate'), since 2000 Orbita, and since 2002 Cona ('Zone', a Supplement for Young People) and Križišče (a weekend supplement). The cultural section prepares one or two pages per day covering cultural events and cultural policy issues, including reviews, interviews and reports.
