Exodos Institute has been registered as a non-for-profit cultural institution (zavod) with the aim of producing the Exodos International Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts, a prestigious event which, during its 12 years of existence, has presented in Ljubljana numerous performances by foreign artists. A sudden cut of the financial support the Exodos Festival had to be temporarily transformed into other forms: art educational practices (eg Coaching workshop) and international co-productions of stage performances. Up to 2007 Exodos institute produced or co-produced 14 performances by Slovene and international authors (Matej Kejžar, Ivan Peternelj, Leja Jurešič, Boštjan Antončič, Jurij Konjar, Gabrielle Nankivell, Ana Stegnar, Magdalena Reiter, Damjana Černe). Since 2003 Zavod Exodos has also produced the Gibanica (Moving Cake) Festival of Slovene Dance.

Exodos Institute is a member of several international networks, including the Informal European Theatre Meeting (IETM), Festivals in Transition (FIT), European Dance Education Network (DANCE) and the Trans Danse Europe network of production houses.
