Originally established in 1997 by the Open Society Institute, this centre was registered as a non-profit cultural and educational association in 1998. It is an important information and multimedia centre which assists the implementation of various artistic and civil society projects. Both the gallery area and the cybercafe have hosted exhibitions of art, comic illustration, posters, multimedia and photography. PINA has established a cultural portal of the Coast and Karst Region at http://www.porton.si.
PINA Primorje Information Atelier joined the m3c Multimedia Centres Network of Slovenia in 2004.
