In September 2006 the former Academy of Education (Pedagoška akademija) of the University of Maribor was transformed into three faculties: the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the Faculty of Education. The Faculty of Education is organised into five departments: Music, Visual Arts, Pre-School (Nursery) Education, Class Teaching (first three years of elementary school when all subjects are taught by one teacher) and Sport Trainers Education (for selected sports disciplines). The Faculty co-operates with the International Society of Education through Arts (InSEA).
