Po Re Me Tower 1 (Tim Doling)
Located some 15 kilometres south of Phan Rang-Tháp Chăm on a rocky promontary five kilometres west of Highway 1, this single tower is all that remains of three that were constructed here in the 16th century, and thus represents the final phase of Chăm architecture. It gets its name from the last independent king of Chàmpa, Pô Rô Mê (1627-1651), who died a prisoner of the Việt. Each year during the 8th and 9th lunar months (September-October) this temple complex is one of the three main venues for the Kate (Chăm New Year) Festival.
