Originally established in 1993 as the Department of Chinese Studies, the Centre for Chinese Studies is run by the Việt Nam Academy of Social Sciences. Its aim is to undertake research on Chinese history, economy, politics, society, culture and language, in order to provide the government with the scientific foundation for making domestic and foreign policies and to provide the Vietnamese people with a better knowledge of China.
