Established in 1959, the principal public library of Yên Bái Province administers the provincial network of libraries, which comprises Yên Bái City and Nghĩa Lộ town libraries and five rural district libraries. It contains a total of 62,000 books and 205 different magazine and newspaper titles, plus a number of old documents relating to the Dao ethnic people. With advice and assistance from the National Library of Việt Nam in Hà Nội, Yên Bái Provincial Lbrary is in the process of establishing a small book and document restoration and conservation facility
