JICA is currently collaborating with the National Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in a three-year project to preserve traditional Vietnamese folk houses. The project is designed to introduce modern preservation and restoration techniques to authorities charged with overseeing the traditional houses, so as to ensure their future existence. Practical training is being provided through the restoration of six traditional houses in Huế and Nam Định cities and Bắc Ninh, Nghệ An, Đồng Nai and Bình Long provinces. JICA is also assisting the Việt Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) to develop the tourism industry in Việt Nam’s central coast region.
