David Glass EnsembleFundamental to the David Glass Ensemble is the belief in the transformative power of creativity and creative celebration. Committed to performance, participation and learning, it creates powerful physical and visual theatre; makes films; facilitates performance projects with marginalised children and young people through the Lost Child Project; and teaches creative process and innovative theatre. Through the auspices of the British Council Việt Nam, British physical theatre practitioner David Glass and his Ensemble have been working in Việt Nam since 2001, presenting training workshops in which dancers, actors, filmmakers and visual artists are brought together with development practitioners from Oxfam, World Population Foundation, CIDSE, Action Aid and other NGOs to explore new participatory techniques and partnerships and to develop longterm projects. The David Glass Ensemble is internationalist and inclusive in its approach and celebrates diversity and innovation. To date David Glass and the Ensemble have worked in over 40 countries, creating over 100 new pieces of theatre in spaces as diverse as car parks, circuses, stadia, parks and of course theatres. It has trained thousands of performers, young people, teachers and other trainers. In parallel with its work in Viet Nam, It has also established a Centre for Creative Development in Cambodia to explore more creative approaches to development practice.
