The Việt Nam Recording Industry Association was established in August 2003 with the aim of helping with contract negotiations, managing artists' royalties, advising on legal rights and adjudicating in disputes. The Association operates in collaboration with the Việt Nam Music Copyright Protection Centre regarding songwriters' royalties and with the Performing Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to devise payments for musicians and performing artists. To date 30 recording studios have joined the association.
