With a long and distinguished history dating back to 1956, the Faculty of Literature of Hà Nội University of Social Sciences and Humanities is the country's leading centre for teaching and research in Vietnamese literature. It offers four-year BA, three year MA and four-year PhD programmes in Vietnamese literature. At the time of going to press the Faculty is collaborating with the Việt Nam Film Association on a project to create a graduate programme in Film Studies, focusing not on the practical side of filmmaking but rather on film as a language of communication. Students of this programme will need to be competent in three fields: film theory, film criticism and script/screenplay writing.
