Organised every four years by the Hồ Chí Minh City Writers’ Association with sponsorship from Tuổi trẻ (Youth) Newspaper and Trẻ (Youth) Publishing House, these competitions aim to encouage young writers of short stories, poetry, fiction and plays. The involvement of the publisher is particularly helpful as it helps bring young writers together with those responsible for bringing new and quality literature to readers; several past prizewinners have had gone on to have their works published. The jury includes a number of leading contemporary writers.
