 Established in 1989 by a group of national archive directors attending the International Conference of the Archives Round Table in Madrid, AIAF brings together the heads of national archives and archive associations who have in common the use of the French language. Its objective is to facilitate co-operation between its members with a view to the development of professional exchange activities, diffusion of specialised literature, organisation and modernisation of archives, diffusion of archive holdings and support for archive professionals. Current membership of AIAF stands at over 50 and is drawn from countries of the Americas, Africa, Asia and Oceania. |
