Việt Nam National Textile and Garment Corporation (Vinatex) was established following the merger of several state-owned textile and garment enterprises. It functions as manufacturer, exporter, importer and distributor for textiles and garments on a wholesale and retail basis. It also helps the government to orientate and develop the local textile and garment sectors. The various member factories of Vinatex, which undertake everything from spinning, weaving, printing, dyeing and finishing to garment making, have been synchronised so as to permit Vinatex to supply various kinds of products such as yarns, fabrics and garments to different markets. It is currently seeking to renovate and upgrade its technology, expand production capacity and improve product quality, as well as to diversify its products in order to meet the needs of various customers, both nationwide and worldwide.
