Founded in 1948, this important weekly writers’ forum published by the Việt Nam Writers’ Association has a print run of 20,000 copies per issue. Each year the publication announces its prestigious Văn nghệ Newspaper Awards for outstanding literature in the field of prose, poetry, criticism and works in translation. Văn nghệ Newspaper also publishes the weekly newspaper Văn nghệ trẻ (Youth Literary Arts), a forum for creative writing by young people on social and artistic matters which was established in 1995, and Văn nghệ Dân tộc Thiểu số và Miền núi (Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Region Literary Arts) Magazine, a monthly review established in 1995 which provides a forum for ethnic minority writers and for research into the customs and heritage of the mountainous regions. Since the launch of National Poetry Day in 2003 Văn nghệ has carried a 24-page supplement, Thi San Việt Nam (Việt Nam Poetry Newspaper).
