On one hand a bastion of traditional culture, Japan has also made many notable creative contributions in the fields of fashion, film, literature, music, television and video games; anime and manga, in particular, have attracted devotees all over the world.
Featuring authoritative overviews of each cultural sector and an extensive database of contacts, the Japan Cultural Profile will showcase the creative development of this fascinating country from the earliest days of Chinese and Korean influence through to the emergence of a distinctive contemporary hybrid culture which combines influences from Asia, Europe and America.
The Japan Cultural Profile is financially supported by the Japan Foundation, the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation, the Toshiba Foundation and the Japan Foundation for Creative Arts Activity, with additional support from the British Council Tokyo.
