No archive management training courses are currently available in Laos.

Some 80 per cent of the Department of Archives' 26 staff members have Bachelors degrees; most of those who studied the subject prior to the mid 1980s are graduates of East European colleges and universities, whilst younger staff members who graduated in the 1990s were trained mainly in Thailand, Malaysia and Việt Nam. At the time of writing two staff members are studying for Masters degrees in Archival Studies – one in Thailand and the other in Việt Nam.
