Located some 290 kilometres from Savannakhet, this architecturally-interesting Lao stupa is believed to have been constructed during the reign of King Anou (1805-1828), who is said to have sent his wife to rule over the local Phu Tai ethnic people; the name of the stupa (‘Lao Lady’) apparently reflects the fact that she was an ethnic Lao ruling over the Phu Tai locals.
