Originally established in 1974 by the Pathet Lao, Oudomxai Provincial Radio and Television Station became an integral part of the national radio network in 1975. The station was completely rebuilt in 1993 and today radio is broadcast on 102 MHz FM using a 100W TSD transmitter donated by China and on 705 kHz AM using a 1KW transmitter donated by China, while television is broadcast on channel 8 via a 100W transmitter donated in 1993, also by China.
