The Department of Higher, Technical and Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education is responsible for: studying strategies and preparing master plans for the improvement of vocational, technical and engineering personnel at different levels both within and outside the country; for creating and issuing rules and regulations and managing schools, colleges and centres of higher, vocational and technical education, both private and government-run; for accrediting and awarding qualifications in higher, vocational and technical schools, colleges and centres throughout the country; for inspecting and evaluating the implementation of the education curriculum in all higher, vocational and technical schools, colleges and centres throughout the country; for undertaking research into the establishment of additional vocational schools, colleges and centres; for developing educational tools and equipment for use in teaching and study; for sending vocational teachers, technicians and other technical staff to train both within and outside the country; to manage both local and international higher education scholarships and fellowships; and to evaluate the results of government personnel training in different vocational colleges.
