The Association for Sending Picture Books to Lao Children (Deknoylao Laos no Kodomo) seeks to provide access to written materials to Lao children, so that they can aim for a future in which they have the ability to read and write and in which they express themselves, thereby broadening their life choices. The Association also supports the publication of Lao language books and reading and writing activities. Specific activities include: (i) the publication and distribution of Lao language books to schools all around Laos and support for reading promotion activities; (ii) support for the establishment of libraries in primary and secondary schools and for Children's Cultural Centres (CCCs) in Laos; (iii) support for the operation of Children's Cultural Centres (CCCs) in Laos; and (iv) support for the organisation of seminars to train talented persons to make picture books and kamishibai.
