The Foreign Language News Department of Lao National Television (LNTV) is responsible for producing and broadcasting daily news programmes in English and French about the socio-economic development of Laos, the preservation of Lao culture and the Lao way of life, and in particular for promoting the open door policy of the Lao government with a view to attracting more tourists and investors to Laos. These news programmes are targeted at foreigners who live in Laos and Lao people who speak English or French. The English news programme is not only broadcast nationwide, but may also be viewed via satellite throughout South East Asia and in some European countries.
