The department's interests focus on 19th and 20th century art, architecture and design, in addition to Italian medieval and renaissance art and architecture and gender studies. The teaching covers the full spectrum of western art from earliest times up to the present day. The conservation focuses on the remedial and preventive conservation of paintings, polychrome sculpture and historic objects.
