OVERVIEW
Digital facility at Peacock Visual Arts, AberdeenNew and digital media is one of the terms applied in Scotland to arts activity shaped by new technologies. By definition – or the lack of it – the role of computers and digital techniques in art is a bewilderingly fast-moving and far-reaching one, extending through the gallery, installation and public art spheres into the realms of avant-garde cinema, games design and visual research.
With its closely-integrated concentration of artistic, academic and commercial infrastructure, Scotland today is steadily winning recognition as a world leader across all these fields, while a growing network of specialist festivals offers a range of performance and exhibition platforms.
A detailed overview of the Scottish new media arts sector will follow as soon as possible - contributions are invited from practitioners working in this sector, please contact Tim Doling at [email protected]
In the meantime make direct contact with organisations and individuals working in this sector through our extensive database of KEY CONTACTS.
