Formerly the Comataidh Craolaidh Gaidhlig (CCG) or Gaelic Broadcasting Committee, the Gaelic Media Service has responsibilities for sound and television programmes and to undertake a consultative role in relation to Gaelic programmes on digital television. The original Committee was established in 1990 to provide funding for Gaelic television programme production, training, audience research, and related activities.
