 BBC Radio Scotland was founded in 1978 in place of the former Radio 4 Scotland, when BBC Radio 4 became a fully national network and moved from medium wave to long wave. In 1975 local stations were established in Aberdeen and Inverness. Since that time additional local stations have been set up in Dumfries, Selkirk, Orkney and Shetland. |
