Glasgow Science Centre is Scotland’s flagship Millennium Project. Housed in three stunning buildings at Pacific Quay on the Clyde, GSC brings science and technology to life in unique and inspiring ways. The Centre contains hundreds of interactive exhibits, plus the ScottishPower Planetarium, Scotland's only IMAX® cinema, the Science Show Theatre, the Climate Change Theatre and the 127-metre Glasgow Tower.
The heart of GSC is the Science Mall. The gleaming titanium crescent overlooking the Clyde has three floors packed with exhibits, cafes and shop. Visitors can explore and discover hundreds of hands-on exhibits, interactive workshops, live science shows, labs and online facilities, as well as visiting the Science Show Theatre and the ScottishPower Planetarium.
The Science Show Theatre features explosive, interactive live science shows that are guaranteed to amaze and inspire.
The ScottishPower Planetarium is one of the finest planetaria in the world. It offers the chance to see a night sky as it should be seen, with thousands of points of light above us. Most city-dwellers have never seen a clear night sky, as light pollution is now a serious problem throughout the western world. The controlled environment of the ScottishPower Planetarium, with its amazing Zeiss Starmaster projector, enables us to look afresh at the canopied heavens.
With a screen bigger than a five-a-side football pitch and a digital 12,000 watt sound system, the IMAX® shows 2D and 3D films that will amaze and astound visitors. The IMAX® camera looks at the world - and the universe - in a different way.
The Climate Change Theatre offers visitors the chance to learn about the impacts of climate change. The climate change show is filled with stunning environmental effects, recreating the weather right before your eyes, including a spectacular thunderstorm!
The new 125 metre (400 foot) Glasgow Tower at Pacific Quay is the highest building in Scotland and the only tower in the world which rotates through 360 degrees. At the time of writing it is closed to the public.
Glasgow Science Centre is an independent Scottish Charity (SCO30809) the aims of which are: to develop and enhance awareness of educational opportunities surrounding current and future health, science and technology issues; to be a socially inclusive and accessible visitor centre of excellence; and to extend all opportunities within the Glasgow Science Centre to as many people as possible, particularly addressing the needs of people of all ages who are socially, cognitively or physically challenged.
