NMS (4)Opened in 1998, the National Museum of Scotland is a museum dedicated to the history, people and culture of Scotland.
The Museum comprises two buildings - the modern landmark Museum of Scotland building and next to it the magnificent Victorian Royal Museum building.
The stunning Museum of Scotland building, nominated for the RIBA Stirling Prize, houses collections concerned with the story of Scotland its land, its people and their achievements. Its galleries take visitors from Scotland's geological beginnings through time to the 20th century.
The Royal Museum building, with its magnificent glass ceiling, houses the outstanding international collections of Decorative Arts, Science and Industry, Archaeology and the Natural World and contains an extraordinary range of material. Thirty six galleries of varying sizes present artefacts from around the globe along with natural history specimens.
