The National Museum of Piping is located in the National Piping Centre, and presents the piping collections of the National Museums of Scotland in an authoritative display which introduces visitors to the mysteries of bagpiping, its history and origins, placing these firmly in their cultural, social and military contexts.The priceless collection is presented in a lively audio-visual format that is as entertaining as it is enlightening. Commentary comes in five languages, including Gaelic, drawing visitors into all the fascinating folklore on display. In only minutes visitors begin to appreciate the diverse forms of music for the Highland Bagpipe including piobaireachd, the classical music of the pipes.
The Piping Centre also holds an important collection of archival material which is an internationally respected resource for serious students and musicologists.
