Cupar Library is situated in the Crossgate, in the heart of the town. It is a very distinctive building which was constructed over 200 years ago and can be recognised from a distance by its spire. The library has two floors which are open to the public.
The ground floor has a broad range of lending books, CDs and DVDs suitable for all ages, as well as a children's section where events are often held. The first floor houses reference books and holds the main Family History and Local History Collection.
Cupar Library holds the main Family History and Local History Collection for East Area Libraries. Census Records, Old Parish Records and old Newspapers can be consulted by members of the public, most of these are in Microfilm format.
Other services include: 17 public-access PCs with free access to the Internet, Microsoft Office and E-mail software, and online information and learning tools; a range of daily and weekly newspapers in traditional and/or electronic format; and photocopier and fax machine for public use.
There are areas for study and comfortable browsing
The Library also hosts a range of activities: 'Bounce and Tickle' nursery rhyme sessions for babies are held on the last Wednesday of the month and 'Lots for Tots' on the first Wednesday. A library reading group for adults meets monthly to enjoy a shared love of reading over a glass of wine. IT taster sessions for beginners are often available and the library works in partnership with Elmwood College and hosts IT Classes in the building.
