Airdrie's Local History Discovery Room is a reference and research facility run by North Lanarkshire Museums and Heritage. It is based in the Airdrie Library in Wellwynd and staffed during library opening hours by a Local Studies Officer and an Assistant.
The Room has a reference library, the Monklands Map collection, the Monklands photographic collection, family history sources and local newspapers dating back to 1847. Other facilities within the room include microfilm readers with a print capability, microfiche readers and photocopier.
Local History Staff are present to assist with research between 9am and 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Booking is available for use of microfilm and microfiche readers.
