Managed jointly by the Bonhoga Gallery in Shetland and WASPS in Glasgow, The Booth has been rebuilt on the site of the oldest building in Scalloway, ancient capital of Shetland, the most northerly part of the British Isles. Shetland is reached by ferry (14 hours) from Aberdeen or by air, with flights landing at Sumburgh Airport on the southern tip of Mainland.
The building, situated on the waterfront, consists of a living space with kitchen facilities, a shower-room suitable for disabled use, with a sleeping loft over half of the space reached by a ladder. A computer, scanner and printer, as well as a telephone, are available for use in the building. The building basement is a space for 'dirty work' with concrete walls and a flagstone floor. There is a paved area outside with a wall directly on to the sea. The entire building is newly furnished.
