The Aberdeen City Council Cultural Strategy 2001 - 2004 is embedded within the Community Plan for Aberdeen City and as such shares the Plan's key principles of Social Inclusion and Sustainable Development for ensuring a better quality of life for all people who live and work in Aberdeen. The cultural strategy aims to make cultural activity part of the everyday life of the citizens of Aberdeen for the benefit of the City's social and economic well-being and to ensure that Aberdeen is recognised as a culturally vibrant City nationally and internationally. The strategy also pledges to develop national and international partnerships and refers to the development of Aberdeen Jazz Festival, Aberdeen Music Festival, Triptych, Rootin' Aboot, Word and Aberdeen International Youth Festival "to develop their programmes and augment the impact they have locally and beyond".
