Hogmanay (VisitScotland) (1)Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is a major annual four-day festival featuring bands playing all types of music and performers from all over the world
It commences on 29 December with the spectacular Torchlight Procession - thousands gather together to follow a Viking long-boat up to the top of Calton Hill where it is ceremonially burnt. The celebrations continue on 30 December at the Night Afore International, when George Street is turned into a carnival of colour and with performances by leading street theatre companies, and on 31 December when the Royal Bank Street Party, the Concert in the Gardens and the Ceilidh in the Gardens are held. The fun continues on 1 January at Holyrood Park with families, friends and those looking to blow away the cobwebs coming along to join in the One O' clock Run, the Iron Kids Duathlon and the Edinburgh Bicycle Triathalon.
Edinburgh's Christmas is managed by Edinburgh's Winter Festivals a City of Edinburgh Council initiative. It is delivered in association with a wide range of partners and sponsors.
