Established in 1972, Glasgow Print Studio is based in the heart of the Merchant City and comprises an open access print studio offering facilities for screen-printing, etching, lithography, relief printing and digital imaging. They also house 2 galleries and a retail outlet (Gallery III) which exhibit a programme of contemporary shows every six weeks. Predominantly printmaking, they also exhibit works in many other media. They are also one of the largest publishers of original prints in the UK.
For the past 30 years, Glasgow Print Studio has encouraged and promoted the art of printmaking through the work of contemporary artists by artistic practice, exhibitions, education, outreach and sales.
Their facilities include:
Workshop facilities are available in etching/intaglio, stone and plate lithography, relief printing, photography and many other related processes. They also have a digital imaging service. The workshop is run by an experienced staff of expert artist printmakers who provide guidance and technical advice on all aspects of printmaking.
Workshop access is available to all members of the public who have printmaking experience. (For the inexperienced, taking an evening class is the ideal way to progress to workshop membership.) In addition to Membership fees, a system of Session fees (paid daily, quarterly or annually) contributes to the cost of consumables provided by the workshop, such as inks and print chemistry.
Workshop evening classes are held quarterly in many printmaking disciplines. Here one can acquire or refresh skills and techniques, gaining confidence under the guidance of the studio’s tutors. Advanced printmaking classes can be arranged on request.
