Gracefield was founded in 1951 to house a permanent collection of Scottish Art, which has now grown to over 450 works dating from the late 1800’s to the present day. The centre now hosts a changing programme of temporary exhibitions featuring regional, national and international visual and applied art, as well as activity programmes for children and adults. Gracefield has activity and meeting rooms for hire, including a well-equipped non-toxic printmaking studio, and also has a craft shop and café/bar.
Their exhibition policy is to present a changing programme of exhibitions that:
Encourage access and participation in the exhibition to the widest possible audience, provide a platform for the work of local, national and international contemporary artists and craft-makers, present selected exhibitions from the Gracefield Permanent Art Collection at Gracefield and other outreach venues, initiate and tour exhibitions from Gracefield Arts Centre to other local, national and international art venues
