Following the refurbishment of the Corran Halls, Oban, with funding from the Scottish Arts Council the venue is now able to host touring exhibitions as part of its arts programme. For its performing arts work and details of its facilities see Corran Halls.
The opening exhibition in 2002 was CREATIVITY: the true art of therapy by the late John Paterson. The exhibition by the Argyll artist came to Oban following its launch at Glasgow School of Art. The work by pupils from seven schools in Argyll, “7 Vital Sparks”, was exhibited following their time with artist George Wyllie during Scotland’s Year of the Artist. George Wyllie’s site specific exhibition “Para Handy, Re-visited, once again?” was commissioned for The Burnet Building, Campbeltown as was “Branching Out”, an exhibition by Argyll basketmakers.
