Cove ParkLocated in an idyllic lochside setting on Scotland's west coast, Cove Park is an international centre for the arts and creative industries. Founded in 1999 by Eileen and Peter Jacobs, Cove Park runs an annual programme of residencies for artists working in all art forms. It is committed to providing both established and emerging artists from all disiciplines, and the creative industries, with time, space and freedom to undertake significant research, develop their practice and ideas, or produce new work. Applications are welcome from anywhere in the world.
Cove Park also aims to facilitate collaboration, exchange, networking and dialogue between individuals and across art forms, working in partnership with key individuals and organisations in Scotland, the UK and overseas to maintain its international role and profile. In parallel with the main residencies programme, the centre organises and hosts a series of public events designed to engage a broader public with Cove Park’s artistic agenda.
The range of architecturally striking accommodation on offer includes the housing 'pods' constructed for the BBC TV series Castaway, and three former shipping containers produced by leading London designers Urban Space Management. Projects conceived at Cove Park have been presented in some of the world's most prestigious galleries and performance spaces, throughout the UK and beyond.
During its May to November 2006 programme over 60 residencies were awarded to national and international artists. This same year also saw the launch of the first Cove Park Commission - visual artist Simon Starling launched a major new project Autoxylopyrocycloboros, at Cove Park in July and the work was developed throughout the summer.
