The completely renovated and technologically-upgraded Kinodvor Cinema located in the centre of the city (in the vicinity of Ljubljana railway station), reopened in October 2003, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the original venue. Before its renovation, the cinema held a fundraiser, selling new seats. Film lovers were invited to buy seats and all were sold. The refurbished theatre auditorium was named after Slovene director Žarko Lužnik and can accommodate 197.
The theatre also offers a study room, named after Louis Delluc, in which club members can find a collection of books on film, some magazines, Internet access and a chance to work on a computer and watch videotapes in two video corners. There is also a specialised film library and an exhibition display in the hall.
Kinodvor is a partner distributor of European films through the Europa Cinemas network. It therefore screens primarily European cinema, but it also presents world contemporary cinema, American independent cinema, experimental cinema, live cinema and Slovene non-commercial film productions, primarily short and feature films.
The cinema is a member of the Artkino mreža (Art Cinema Network), a project initiated in 2003 by Slovenian Cinematheque with the support of Cankarjev dom Cultural and Congress Centre, Film Programme, which distributes selected high-quality films around Slovenia for screening at member cinemas - Art kino Metropol Celje, Kino Odeon Izola, Kino Udarnik Maribor, Janez Trdina Cultural Centre, Novo mesto, Sora Cinema, Škofja Loka, Slovenj Gradec Culture House, Kosovel Culture House, Sežana, and Delavski dom Zagorje Cultural Centre. In collaboration with the Film Archive Department, Slovenian Cinematheque, Kinodvor manages the distribution of films to this Network.
