Bunker Institute is a private non-profit cultural organisation (zavod) established by Nevenka Koprivšek. It participates in the Junge Hunde international network that stimulates mobility of young and promising artists. Bunker has organised the Mladi levi Festival every end of Summer since 1998. Since 2002 in November the Drugajanje festival has been organised at the 2nd Grammar School in Maribor, presenting the programme of contemporary dance and theatre performances to the youth.
Bunker is a performing arts producer; it has produced physical theatre performances by Betontanc, a group led by Matjaž Pograjc, some dance and multimedia performances by ballet and contemporary dancer Sanja Nešković Peršin, dancers Jurij Konjar and Ana Stegnar, and performances by actress Jette Ostan Verjup. These 'house artists' tour international festivals, and several international authors have also been presented to Ljubljana audiences as part of Junge Hunde's network events.
Since 2004 Bunker has been running the programme at the Stara Elektrarna - Old Power Station, a performing arts venue opened recently in the centre of Ljubljana. The programme consists of production, education and presentations. Space facilities are used for rehearsals, education (dance, art management and other workshops) and stage performances. Bunker has developed several collaborative projects, one of them being revival of the cultural house in Medana, a small city in Goriška region, where workshops have been organised in co-operation with the local community. Thus Medana is becoming an international residency centre, an important meeting point and a venue.
Bunker is a member of the following international networks: Junge Hunde, Theorem, Informal European Theatre Meeting (IETM), DBM and Balkan Express.
