OTOK (meaning 'island' in Slovene), is a cultural institute for the development of film culture. It was established as a non-profit cultural NGO in 2004 to manage the first Kino OTOK - Isola Cinema Festival of African, Asian, Latin American and Eastern European cinema. Outside festival time the main activity of the OTOK Cultural Institute is film distribution. The first film distributed by the institute was Baboussia by Russian director Lidia Bobrova, which won the Audience Award at the first Kino OTOK festival of 2004. The Institute's other activities involve organising and promoting cultural events with the aim of developing film culture in Slovenia.
