Logar Provincial Government
Street address: Palalam, Logar Province, Afghanistan
Contact: Munshi Abdul Majeed Governor
Logar Province is located south of Kabul with a population of 406,800 and an area of 1,702 square miles. Known as the granary of Kabul, it harvests grapes, apples and vegetables. There are plans to create a museum to house the artifacts from numerous historic sites. The Buddhist site Kafir Kot Khawar is 2,000 years old. The King of Iran’s son escaped and lived in the Takht e Jamsheid palace in Logar. In Baraki Barak golden relics were found during the Taliban time but they have since disappeared. Tourists need to get permission from the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs to visit the sites. There are no guards and looting has been a problem.
