Shah Maqsud Shrine is located some 70 kilometres west of Kandahar and is an important place of pilgrimage. Shah Maqsud was a companion of Hazrat Ali, cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet Mohammad, who is also reported to have been secretly buried here.
