Founded in 1983 by AFRANE (Amitié Franco-Afghane), CEREDAF is an association whose mission is (i) to collect and organise documentation about Afghanistan, (ii) to offer these documents to associations, the media, universities, researchers and the general public, and (iii) to contribute to the greater knowledge about Afghanistan, the culture and people by publishing documents. The Documentation Centre is the only specialised documentation centre about Afghanistan in France and as such is a unique resource aimed at researchers, students, journalists and the general public. It features 800 books and a collection of more than 70 periodicals from 1980 to 2001, classed by year and theme from many countries. It holds recordings of Radio Kabul dating from 1980, bibliographies and various publications including the commentary of Mohammad Akram (11,000 references from 1972 to 2001).
