Ghor Province is located in mountainous west central Afghanistan with a population of 755,1407 and an area of 13,808 square miles. This Province was home to the Ghorid dynasty (1150-1217 CE). The Minaret of Jam built by Sultan Ghias ud Din was discovered in 1958. The Minaret of Jam is the first Afghan monument to be admitted to the World Heritage List.
