Also known as Diên Hựu, Hà Nội’s famous One-Pillar Pagoda was originally built in 1049 by Lý Thái Tông. Its design depicts a lotus blossom rising out of a sea of sorrow. The temple has been rebuilt many times, most recently after having been destroyed by the French before they left Hà Nội in 1954.
