The Museum of Reconstruction is a monument to man’s ability to overcome the destruction of war and create a new future. The museum documents the history of forced evacuation and total destruction during the German occupation of World War II and the rebuilding and reconstruction of Finnmark and Northern Troms which took place from 1944-1960. The museum utilises modern effects in its exhibition. Through pictures, film, sound and text it gives an insight into culture in this region before the war. There is also an opportunity to learn how life was for the evacuees and refugees and finally how optimism characterised the rebuilding phase.
