It offers: adult and junior books, magazines, large print books, talking books and DVDs for loan; reference and enquiry services; public PCs with Office software, Internet access and E-mail (pre-booking advised), IT Taster Sessions held regularly; videoconferencing (advance booking required); playstation and games which may be booked for half-hourly sessions by junior members; a selection of daily and weekly newspapers and magazines; photocopying and fax facilities, and a cafe.
The Dick Institute Library also has an important local and family history section which holds written material and documents covering all aspects of Ayrshire’s past, including local newspapers from 1834 to date (some indexed), gravestone inscriptions, family and local history books and a selection of maps.
