Accessibility: Level access to main entrance from upper car park, which has three disabled parking spaces; induction loop in theatre, meeting room, and at lending and reference receptions; two internal lifts, access to print magnifier and specialist adaptive software and hardware on People's Network computers; two shopping trolleys which assist those with movement difficulty both with balance and collecting loans on the lending floor
The A K Bell Library in Perth is the central library for Perth and Kinross. Located in a bright, open building, it offers a wide range of borrowing, information and learning services for all ages.
Adults, children and young people can borrow a variety of books, CDs, videos and DVDs. Large print books and Talking Books are also available.
20 public-access PCs offer Internet, Microsoft Office, E-mail software and online learning resources;
The Comfort Zone area within the A K Bell Library provides comfortable seating and a relaxed atmosphere. It contains short fiction and non-fiction books, as well as tabloid newspapers and some popular magazines. The material held in this area complements the work of the Adult Learning Team, the Learning Curve and the Big Plus.
The Library also incorporates a Café which offers a wide and tasty range of drinks and snacks, and the A K Bell Library Shop, which provides an interesting and unusual range of items for sale. The shop is now the largest supplier of local history and Scottish publications in Perth, this includes library publications. It also sells crafts and jewellery by local manufacturers and craftspeople and prints by local artists.
There is also a Theatre and Meeting Room at the A K Bell Library, both adaptable, comfortable and attractive and open for hire.
The A K Bell Library is part of the Scottish Parliament Partner Library Network.
